Christmas Fayres and Markets Suffolk

You just cant beat a good christmas fayre or market. In my opinion there is nothing better than wrapping yourself up nice and warm to venture out and browse the stalls, whilst breathing in the smells of the amazing foods cooked up at these events whilst enjoying a glass or two of mulled wine.

Heres a round up of some of the many fayre’s and markets being held throughout Suffolk this Christmas season.

Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre
23rd – 26th November

With more than 300 traders already booked, the fayre once again promises an enticing mix of local and global produce and crafts. As with last year, the fayre fun begins from 2pm on the Thursday. The opening events will include a lantern parade in the Abbey Gardens, late night shopping and a dazzling firework finale from 7.45pm, while there is free parking from 4pm. The fayre continues from 9am on Friday 24th November with a weekly street market, as well as street entertainment and special offers along the independent shopping street of Johns Street.

Ipswich Christmas Market
December 8th – 10th

From Friday 8th to Sunday 10th December Ipswich is transformed into a winter wonderland. Enjoy a whole range of festive stalls with treats for families, children, and grown-ups too. There will lots of street food available, so you’re bound to be tempted by the smells and aromas from foods from around the world.

Come along to buy some great gifts, have some hot food and a drink as you have a break and listen to the live music. Opening each day from 10am until 6pm (4pm Sunday) there will be plenty for all age groups to do!

Jimmy’s Farm Christmas Fayre
December 2nd and 3rd 10-6pm

Join us for some Christmas cheer at this year’s Christmas Fayre! Mulled cider, Father Christmas’ Grotto (charges apply), craft and local food stalls, hot food and plenty more!

Book a table for a delicious lunch in the Restaurant and take a stomp around the Wildlife Park (charges apply).

Free parking and free entry to the fayre, dogs on leads welcome.

Snow Fiesta Christmas Market
Stowmarket, 9th December 9.00-16.00

The Mix is hosting its first indoor Christmas Market in partnership with Stowmarket Town Council’s “Snow-fiesta”.
The day will include an ice rink & inflatable snow globe around the market square as well as the indoor market at The Mix.

FREE entry!

The Mix will have lots of stalls selling Christmas gifts and beautiful items. Come browse the Christmas Trees that will be on display as part of the Christmas Tree Festival too.
Cabbages & Kings cafe will be open 10-2pm serving festive treats.

Haverhill Christmas Market
December 1st-2nd, 10.00-18.00

Market Square Group once again adds to the celebrations in Haverhill for the Town’s annual Christmas Festival with a World Village Market on Queen Street.

Friday will see the Christmas Shopping tradition culminate into a family fun evening with the annual light switch on, followed by fireworks at 8pm. This event regularly attracts between 5,000 – 7,000 people and includes fairground and charity stalls as well as late night shopping in the town.

The Saturday will see a free children’s entertainment on the Market Square.

This popular annual event will be extensively advertised by the Town Council and will be in The Arts Centre Programme of Events.

Lavenham Street Fayre
December 1st-3rd (Times vary)

A seasonal feast for the senses, there will be music and entertainment for all the family, as well as Craft and Food stalls selling all manner of seasonal goodies – all set amid the magical backdrop of Lavenham’s historic Market Place.

Come and join us for three days of festive fun, food, entertainment and shopping from the evening of Friday 1st December – Sunday 3rd December.

Halstead Christmas Fayre
25th November 10am Onwards

You can expect a Christmas market, singing & dancing, decorative icing demonstrations, Santa’s Grotto, and special offers in the local shops.

A Christmas Tree Festival will also be held at St Andrews Church.

Long Melford Olde Christmas
26th November 12.00-17.00

Long Melford’s annual family event to kick start the festive season. Enjoy Street Entertainment, Father Christmas, Reindeer & Donkeys, Magician’s Show, Street Entertainers, Christmas Shopping, Lantern Lit Parade and more….

Starts at 12pm (noon) and Lantern Parade starts at 4:30pm from the Library, finishes with Christmas Tree light switch on and carols around the tree. Ends approx. 5pm. Free parking.
