Bury St Edmunds – 15th November, 3pm – 8pm

A community event organised by OurBuryStEdmundsBID to celebrate the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights – with an appearance from the man of the hour – Santa!

Among the attractions will be mum and baby reindeer, The Snow Queen and friend, 40 charity stalls, fairground rides and hot food and drink stalls.

Switching on the Christmas lights this year is Dr Liz O’Riordan, an inspiring local breast cancer surgeon who who has twice fought the disease herself, and who was recently the subject of a statue displayed in the town’s Abbey Gardens.

Free entry and free parking after 4pm!

Ipswich – 22nd November, 4.30pm-7pm

Get in the Christmas spirit with the biggest lights show in Ipswich!

Head down to the town centre for an evening of entertainment, raucous pantomime antics and Christmas lights aplenty throughout the town.

Live MC’s take you through the build up and hear from the mayor from the Town Hall balcony. There will be a performance from Roma, a 13 year old singer songwriter from Ipswich who is on a mission to fundraise £6,000 for local charities.

Please note there is limited capacity for this event and gates will close when we have reached the limit.

Sudbury – 23rd November, 5pm – 9pm

During the evening there will also be carols played around the Christmas tree by the Salvation Army and the Choral Society will be singing carols in St. Peter’s. There will be a Christmas Craft Fair inside St. Peter’s with Mulled Wine and Mince Pies. There will also be various stalls outside in North Street, Kings Street and Old Market Place.

Attractions for this year include a mobile synthetic Ice Skating Rink, an inflatable bouncy Snow Globe, real life reindeer and a hand-tame owl, eliminator and cage ride for adults, cups and saucer ride, bungee trampolines and swing chairs for children and various other fairground games, the Phoenix Suffolk Community Marchers will be performing plus a visit by Elsa & Anna, Frozen impersonators.

Stowmarket – 23rd November, 6pm – 9pm

The Stowmarket Christmas Lights Switch-On is the highlight of the year for many of the residents of Stowmarket and has a long tradition of being one of the busiest events in the calendar with a bustling market, live entertainment and events happening across the town centre.

Southwold – 24th November, 2pm-7pm

Road closure from 2pm until 7pm
From 3pm: Stalls in High Street and music in Market Place
5pm: Father Christmas will be switching the lights on from the Town Hall balcony in Market Place

Beccles – 30th November, 5.30pm-9pm

The Committee are now working hard to arrange this years event. We will have the usual local acts on stage and a variety of stalls and entertainment throughout the town.

This year there will be a new and exciting trail throughout the town so watch this space and other social media for details.

Felixstowe – 1st December, 4.40pm – 

Christmas is a magical time of year in Felixstowe, with thousands coming from across the region to see the Official Christmas Lights switch on and Craft Market event this year held on Saturday 1st December 2018 at 5pm. The fantastic event is organised by Felixstowe Lions Club and supported by Felixstowe Town Council. The Lights will be switched on by the Mayor of Felixstowe from the event stage at the Triangle, Hamilton Road, Felixstowe.  

Come and see the fantastic range of gift, food and charity stalls all along Hamilton Road to the Triangle Canopy. If you are interested in having a market stall at this event please contact Sarah Gooch

Santa’s Grotto, carol singing and live entertainment takes place throughout the afternoon. A children’s candlelight parade (starting at 4.40pm) leads up to the Christmas Lights switch on. Admission is free.
