Best christmas markets in Suffolk 2018

You just cant beat a good christmas fayre or market. In my opinion there is nothing better than wrapping yourself up nice and warm to venture out and browse the stalls, whilst breathing in the smells of the amazing foods cooked up at these events whilst enjoying a glass or two of mulled wine.

Heres a round up of some of the many fayre’s and markets being held throughout Suffolk this Christmas season.

Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre
22rd – 25th November

The award winning Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre is now in its sixteenth year and gets bigger and better everytime. With over 300 stalls situated all around the historic Georgian town centre it has the perfect mix of old and new.

Our Fayre has something for everyone and includes children’s opening parade and fireworks, cookery theatre and food area in the Cathedral grounds, free children’s activities and fun fair on Angel Hill and in the Abbey Gardens and much much more.

Jimmy’s Farm Christmas Fayre
December 1st and 2nd 10-4pm

Join us for some Christmas cheer, Mulled cider, Father Christmas’ Grotto, carousel, donkey rides, live music, over 100 craft and local food stalls, hot food and plenty more!

Eating and drinking is easy! We have delicious street food, our famous hog roast, hot chestnuts, hot chocolate and marshmallows, fudge, mince pies and mulled wine to enjoy while you browse the stalls, our award winning restaurants offers something more substantial.

Free parking and free entry to the fayre, dogs on leads welcome.


Snow Fiesta Christmas Market
Stowmarket, 15th December

The SnowFiesta Christmas Market will take place on Saturday 15th December 2018 and attracts lots of interest from traders and locals alike due to the success of previous years event which have seen the busiest market days we have ever hosted. This years attractions will include a free ice rink which proved incredibly popular last year.

felixstowe Christmas Craft Market and Light Switch On
December 1st

The coastal town of Felixstowe offers a traditional craft fayre and Christmas market for all ages. With Father Christmas to entertain the kids, enjoy a day out by the sea with a fantastic selection of food and craft stalls to choose from, you will definitely get into the festive spirit!

There will also be a children’s candlelit parade leading up to the switch on at 5pm. It’s free admission


Lavenham Street Fayre
December 7th – 9th (Times vary)

It’s an occasion for the whole family to enjoy with a funfair, big wheel, and over 50 stalls spread around the Market Square and inside the Guildhall offering a selection of seasonal gifts.

There will also be carol singing and Morris Dancers and don’t forget the village shops will be open for late night shopping for those special Christmas presents.

Come along and immerse yourself in the atmospheric charm of one of Suffolk prettiest and most historic villages at this special time of year.


Long Melford

We Are Homemade Christmas Craft Fayre, The Old School

17th November 10.00-16.00

Taking place over four rooms in The Old School, this event will offer shoppers a wonderful choice of beautifully designed and handcrafted gifts for Christmas.

Makers will be showcasing the latest in contemporary and vintage inspired handmade items. Stallholders include Capricorn Crafts, makers of wooden toys and gifts; Honeybee Natural Beauty; Tie dyed clothes and accessories from Stinging Bullfish; Woodturner Glyn Hall; Dolly Mixtures Glass and Nanuk Jewellery. A full list of makers will be on www.wearehandmade.co.uk nearer the event.

Norah from Fantasia Textiles will be demonstrating various textile techniques throughout the day.
Visitors can sit down and enjoy some delicious homemade cakes with a cup of tea, all served in lovely vintage style crockery, courtesy of Plum Fairy who will be running the tearoom.
